What is Weight Loss Coaching?

So many of us, myself included, have spent a lifetime on the diet roller coaster. We are overwhelmed with conflicting information, we’ve lost and gained the same 20 lbs a million times, and even when we feel like experts, it seems impossible to sustain the loss. After a while, it starts to feel like it just isn’t possible to lose the weight.


I believed that for the longest time. I believed I didn’t have the willpower, the dedication, all the buzz words that are thrown out there. At some point, I believed I was just going to struggle with my weight for the rest of my life. At my highest point, the scale hit 277 lbs and I knew I had to do something.

After losing the weight, I learned so much about diet culture, the food industry, our food culture in general and how so many of the issues I had with weight loss were restrictive diets, a lack of education around nutrition, and no access to realistic, sustainable guidance. 


That’s when I decided health coaching was the career for me, and the entirety of my coach focus is to make sure clients leave here feeling like they know how to sustain their weight loss long term. 


So, what exactly do I do? 


I help you break free of diet culture so you can lose weight for good. 


How?


Depending on your overall weight loss goal, we’ll meet weekly for 20 minutes either for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. I always encourage 12 months no matter the goal because that gives you the opportunity to lose the weight and learn how to navigate life when maintaining the weight loss!


In coaching appointments, we focus on:

  • Troubleshooting obstacles

  • Learning to read nutrition labels, understanding macronutrients, grocery shopping, meal planning and more

  • Changing habits and behaviors

  • Establishing a mindful relationship with food

  • Setting goals

  • Celebrating your success


Based on research, there are 3 keys to maintaining weight loss long term:

  • Self-belief

  • Self-compassion

  • Mindfulness


Coaching is all about learning to build those 3 components into your life, along with the nutrition skills and knowledge needed to confidently know how to make balanced choices, enjoy life and not constantly feel restricted. 


I have taken my 7 years of health coaching experience, my personal weight loss and maintenance, along with many hours of training to create a coaching process that helps you really understand what YOU personally need to lose weight and maintain it.
